How do I change colors on my LK150?

Color changes don’t have to stop your knitting - once you know this, everything flows.

Keep your knitting moving

Changing colors on the LK150 is simple once you know what to do. The goal is to switch yarns smoothly, make sure the new yarn is feeding correctly, and keep knitting without overthinking the process. Don’t worry about the yarn tails right now. For this first step, just focus on changing the yarn and keeping your stitches safely on the machine.

Change colors and keep knitting

change colors on your LK150

  • Remove the working yarn from the yarn feeder
  • If you aren’t cutting the yarn, loop it around the needle bed or use the yarn rest if yours is in place
  • Place the new yarn into the yarn feeder, holding it from above and below
  • Wiggle and pull the yarn gently to make sure it is seated securely
  • Pull the yarn up and down to make sure it is not caught and feeds smoothly
  • Secure the tail with a chip clip, clothespin, or hold it with your left hand
  • Keep knitting
👉 Don’t worry about finishing the tails yet. You can secure them as you go in the next step.
