Skill Builders

Practice a single technique without knitting an entire project.

Skill Builder practice worksheet for machine knitting

Reading about a skill and actually doing it are two different things.

Skill Builders are short, focused knitting exercises designed to help you practice one technique at a time. Each exercise is quick to knit and gives you the opportunity to build confidence before using the skill in a larger project.

Unlike our courses, Skill Builders don't teach the techniques step by step. They provide the instructions and the calculations, but they assume you're ready to practice.

Simply enter your stitch and row gauge, and we'll generate the shaping instructions for your exercise. Then knit, practice, and repeat as many times as you'd like.

If you're new to a technique or would like a more detailed explanation, take the companion course. Our courses explain the "why" behind the technique, demonstrate different methods, and help you understand when to use each one.

Practice builds confidence. That's exactly what Skill Builders are here to help you do.

How Skill Builders Work

  1. Choose a skill.
  2. Enter your stitch and row gauge.
  3. Generate a short practice worksheet.
  4. Knit the exercise.
  5. Repeat until the skill feels comfortable.
