Determine if you have enough yarn to finish your project.

A swatch, a scale, and a few measurements can help you estimate how much yarn your project will need.

1. Measure and weigh your swatch.

Length units (inches or cm)

  • Measure the full swatch from edge to edge.
  • Use a kitchen scale or postal scale to weigh it.

2. Enter the finished dimensions of one pattern piece.

  • Measure the widest part from edge to edge.
  • Measure the longest part from top to bottom.
