Another way to shape your knitting and "turn corners" is partial knitting or short rows. If you are a hand knitter, think of the "wrap and turn" technique.
On the knitting machine, we use a combination of the needle position (all the way out or "D" position) AND the Russel levers to "hold" for short row shaping.
You'll notice in the photos in this course, I marked "H" directly on my carriage, making it difficult to forget which levers control hold.
From adding bust darts to shaping shoulders to increasing and decreasing, short rows are used so often in machine knitting that it is critical that you learn, understand AND PRACTICE this technique.
