Swatch #1

There are many ways to knit a gauge swatch. At this point you probably have your favorite method. Work the next 2 exercises with whatever method you prefer.
The method used isn't as important as learning to measure accurately.

1. Knit a swatch using any method.
2. Place markers at the center of the swatch as you did with the previous swatch
3. Let it rest
4. Dress the swatch (treat it as you will treat your finished sweater)
5. Accurately measure YOUR stitch and row gauge LAYING FLAT
6. Accurately measure YOUR stitch and row gauge AFTER HANGING
7. Record your gauge.

Attach a string tag to your swatch recording all the details ... it's funny how easy it is to forget. Include yarn name, machine, tension, measurements, and stitch pattern number (if appropriate)

To hang your swatch: Insert a blocking wire or a straight hand knitting along the cast on or bind off edge of the swatch. Pin it to a corkboard or clip it in a skirt hanger and hang in a doorway.
