Neck Opening Too Wide

Some patterns are designed with very wide necklines. Have you ever had a top that felt like it was falling off your shoulders?
Unless you have a collar or other design element around the neckline, you don't have to completely re-chart the neckline. Just one small change can make a huge difference.
Check the pattern for the neck opening width to determine if you want to make a change.
This pattern for a round neckline is instructing us to bind off 32 stitches at the center front. Looking at the diagram (or doing the math) I've determined that I want the neck opening to be 2" narrower.

- Bind off fewer stitches at the center front
- Continue following the pattern and work the neckline shaping as instructed
- You will have more stitches at the shoulder seams
- The neck opening will be narrower
- Don't forget to repeat this on the back as well, so the shoulders match
